Core issue
Before you install the Cisco Intrusion Detection System (IDS) module, you must have the Catalyst 6500 series switch with at least one Supervisor Engine.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, perform these steps:
- Check the hardware and software requirement.
- Determine that Supervisor Engine 2 (SUP2) and Multilayer Switch Feature Card 2 (MSFC2) are installed.
- Determine that Cisco IOS Software on the Catalyst 6500 Supervisor (also known as Native IOS) is installed.
