This issue occurs if the username includes a "\", and when the ASDM is launched through the ASDM launcher (not through the built-in browser applet).
TheAdaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) requires that the password be provided twice to authenticate the user. If the username includes a "\", the ASDM launcher is not able to authenticate the user on the first screen. However, when the ASDM asks for the password again, it is able to authenticate the user on the second screen.
For more information, refer to Cisco bug ID CSCse30449.
To resolve this issue,
Re-enter the username / password when the ASDM requests these credentials during the second time. Also, launch the ASDM applet through the browser.
