ANIServer Trouble with LMS 4.0

We are migrating from CWLMS 3.2 to 4.0. After successfully fresh-installing the 4.0 software on a new server, which is in a production environment protected by a host-based firewall and a network firewall.

Once we access Topology Services, we get two kinds of errors based on the client system. Both errors result in the topology services window

failing to launch.

  1. If we access it from the server itself, the plugin initialization window appears everytime we launch topology services. It mentions that jacorb-sign-1-3.jar is not present and it downloads it. Similar is the case with two more jar files. After the files are downloaded, the "Browser Restart required" message appears. No matter how many times the browser is restarted, the same process repeats again. See attached image below (IE-restart.jpg).

2. The other case is accessing the tolopogy services window through a client machine. In this case, we get the "topology services (admin@ANIServer...)" window appears and the client attampts to communicate with the ANI Server (see attached "ANIServer-connecting.jpg").

It takes more than two minutes attempting to access the ANIServer process and then it fails by displaying the famous "Cannot connect to ANIServer" error. See the image below (ANIServer Error.jpg)

  • We are using supported browsers on both ends (IE 7). Also, we followed the config guides and configured the setup as a non-DNS resolvable LMS server.

  • Communication between the client and server is not blocked by the network firewall and the host-based firewall on the server is set to passive mode.
  • ANIServer process is running on the server machine
