Now both ASAs have got 8.0(4) I want to upgrade only standby then move standby to active and testing.

Do ASAs synchronize when first will have 8.0(4) and second ASA will have 8.2(5)??

Hi Tomasz,

Cisco recommends the ASA failover pair to have the same versions for long term compatibility. But syncronization will take place between the devices even if they are in different versions. But a problem might arise if one of the command is not supported in the other version.

Have a look at the below link for the zero time upgrade procedure for ASA in active standby

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa80/configuration/guide/mswlicfg.html#wp1057338

I hope this helps
