FCoE Issue with UCS C220 M4/VIC 1225/Nexus 5596 - vFC Initializing state

Hi all,

I'm trying to connect in FCoE mode a UCS 220 M4 + VIC 1225 card to a NEXUS 5596.

1 - I have enabled the FCoE feature => feature fcoe
2 - I have configured vHBA card with default vlan 900 on UCS
3 - I have created vlan 900 + vsan 900 on the NEXUS
4 - I have connected UCS to the NEXUS on e1/41 interface in trunk mode
5 - I have bound e1/41 to vfc 900 and vfc 900 to vsan 900

vmware esxi5.1 with up to date cisco drivers is installed on UCS. I see the VIC card (vNIC + vHBA) on vsphere

=> interface eth1/41 is up
=> interface vfc 900 is down (Initializing)

My configuration :
- NX-OS
version 5.2(1)N1(1)

- vlan 900
Original VLAN ID        Translated VSAN ID      Association State
----------------        ------------------      -----------------

      900                       900              Operational

- e1/41
interface Ethernet1/41
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,350,352,900
  spanning-tree port type edge trunk

- vfc 900
interface vfc900
  bind interface Ethernet1/41
  no shutdown

- vsan database 900 mem
vsan 900 interfaces:
    vfc900

did I forget something ?

PS :
++ I didn't reload my nexus after enabled fcoe feature. I hope that "reload" is not a mandatory ...
++ UCS has been restarted
++ FC SAN Boot is not enabled

Hi,

This command will help you to figure out why the vfc interface are stuck in the initializing state:

#show port internal info interface vfc 900

If just it doesn't help, try this here:

- verify if spanning-tree is blocking the port for some reason.

- Is the lldp enabled?

- look the vfc counters, is something ongoing?

- npiv issue

If you are getting trouble after all, please look at this:

If it helps, please rate it.

Did you map the L2 VLAN to the FCoE VSAN?

vlan 900
fcoe vsan 900
