FET-10G for Nexus 2232/2248 to 5596UP support

Hi,

I am planning to design a DC with Nexus 5596 and 2232 / 2248.

Thinking about the transceivers to interconnect with 10GE the Nexus 5596UP with a Nexus 2232 FEX.

The question would be, in that interconnection:

I know that 2232 supports 10GE with FET-10G transceivers. But , what about the Nexus5596UP side? Can I use FET-10G transceiver on this side? Is it supported by 5596UP, or must use SFP-10G-SR ?

Thanks !!!

Answer:-

Please note that the FET-10G cables are only intended to be
run between the Parent switch and the FEX and not between pair of 50x0
switches or the 7000 switches. Please have a look at the following
document that outlines this :

"

Cisco FET-10G

The Cisco FET-10G Fabric Extender Transceiver support link lengths up to
100m on laser-optimized OM3 multimode fiber. It is supported on fabric
links only from a Nexus 2000 to a Cisco parent switch. Note this product
is not orderable invididually. For more information refer to Nexus 2000
datasheet:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/switches/ps9441/ps101

Action plan:

=========

U can you it but make sure you do the config switchport mode fex on this port and this should be connecting only to N2K and not to the servers.

FET-10G is supported on 5596 and can be used for connecting to 2232.

Data sheet for reference = > Check Table 2.

Hope that answers your query.
