HA test problem between FIs

Amr Hafez
Level 1
Level 1

We implemented 6 blades B200-M3, 2 FI 6248UP, SAN SW:brocade and EMC VNX 5200 storage

ESXi 5.5 free edition installed to the blades and installed VMs

when we tested the HA between 2 FI, the VMs were pingable but some VMs dropped 1 ping and other dropped 5 pings then worked correctly and suddenly dropped 10 pings then worked correctly again

Any one has a suggestion of that performance ?

Hi Amr,

How you are performing the HA test? you mean vNIC fabric failover or HA inside the VMware environment?

How your topology looks like?

Please, detail your question.

Richard

Hi Richbarb

thanks for your respond

we tested HA by reboot FI-A then reboot FI-B after FI-A worked with fully operational

we did not use the VMware HA test

the vNIC failover and vHBA happened automatically when we rebooted the FI

Also we tried to shut down FI-A and test the performance then opened FI-A till fully operational then repeat for FI-B the same procedure

the topology attached image

we did all the configuration in UCS, Core and Storage

FI SW mode , FC end host mode

Uplinks in FI to core

FC uplinks to brocade

server port to IOM

pools needed (server pools under root, WWNN,WWPN IPs, MAC)

vNICs and vHBAs on FIA and FIB (vNIC enable failover)

CIMC and KVM configuration

policies (default management monitoring policy, adapter policy default, try using SAN connectivity policy)

native vlan 900

zoning on Brocade

When we tested Fail over as mentioned in the above (by reboot FIs) we found that the VMs down for a period of time ( time of 1- 10 pings) so could you explain this problem ?
