I currently have 5596s which were ordered with the L3 module, which takes up one of the 3 open slots, my question is if I remove the L3 module, to add additional ports and fully populate the switch with 96 UP, do i need to add the L2 card ? or is the L2 daughter no removable on the 5596?
There is no daughter card on the 5596. If you like to use all the 3
slots for L2, then as you say you can remove the L3 card and use a 16
ports expansion module instead. If you like to have L3 on the 5596, you
have up to 2 slots for L2 ports.
