We are considering a pair Nexus 6004 to a pair FEXS 2348UPQ to dual-homed ESXi hosts. We need to support both PVLAN and regular VLANs trunked between the 2348s and the ESXi hosts. Is this done by enabling the global command "system private-vlan fex trunk" and just configuring a regular 802.1q trunk on the port-channel between the 2348s and the ESXi hosts? There could also be single host connected community and isolated PVLAN ports (non-trunk) on the 2348s.
My understanding is that without the global "system private-vlan fex trunk" command that PVLANs are not allowed on the FEX 802.1q trunk. With this command configured, my understanding is that PVLANs can be allowed on the FEX 802.1q trunk along with regular VLANs.
