UCS-FI-6248UP connects to Nexus 5548UP then down to NetAPP storage

I'm late to this project, short deadline and no real experience with the hardware.  Typical story :)

I've had zero exposure to UCS and Nexus but I have a good understanding of IOS switching.  I'm confused as to why the existing solution connects the UCS fabric to the Nexus and then to the NetAPP - there are no other connections from the Nexus.  I'm digging through the UCS documentation but I dont see anything specifically calling out the specifications of the ethernet modules on UCS.  It seems generally that the UCS fabric should be able to connect directly to the NetAPP.

Can someone with exposure to these devices give me some feedback, or point me to were I can find more directed information on the UCS fabric?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Per

This depends upon your setup. UCS can directly connect to NetApp, using appliance ports; however if you are doing native FC and need to configure zoning you will have to use FC switching mode.
