Welcome to this Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation.  This is an opportunity to learn and any ask questions about how to configure and troubleshoot MPLS VPN to Vinit Jain.

Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) virtual private network (VPN) is a cost-effective solution that provides backbone connectivity and other related services to end customers without compromising customer privacy. Because MPLS provides protocol-independent forwarding, MPLS VPN can be implemented to utilize the existing MPLS infrastructure to provide the service. Ever since RFC4364, many service providers now offer VPN services to their customers, using a technique in which customer edge routers are routing peers of provider edge routers. The Multiprotocol Border Gateway Protocol (MP-BGP) is used to distribute customers’ routes across the providers’ IP backbone network, and MPLS is used to tunnel customer packets across the providers’ backbone.

Vinit will be helping you with all your queries on all of the above.

I am presently researching into the different available strategies that Service Providers can use to peer their Layer 3 MPLS VPN networks (inter-provider peering's) and ensure a guaranteed end-to-end customer service level agreements.

Every little information, literatures I will need to study or even videos would be really helpful.

If I understand correctly, you are looking for QoS implementation between ISP when implementing MPLS VPN CSC (Carrier Support Carrier). I would suggest you can start by reading "Definitive MPLS Network Designs". This is a great book and talks more from the design perspective than configs. It covers a lot of case studies which are a good read.

Thank you Vinit Jain, I have gotten the book and would read it.

Am actually looking at that area for my MSc. Dissertation. The case study is of a customer with two sites, with each of the site connected to a different ISP. Am suppose to investigate available strategies and recommend a solution the two ISPs could use to peer and provide the customer an end-to-end connection between the two sites while meeting the customers service level requirements.
