Bonjour Services on the iphone 4

Hi,

If I blocked off the bonjour service on the router will it effect the iphone 4 from functioning?

Bonjour Services on the iphone 4

Hi Simon, bonjour is not essential to function. It is a discovery protocol that simply makes things easier. If you have applications which require bonjour, obviously those will be affected and not work correctly. But it would be irresponsible to say it would prohibit a device from functioning. Bonjour typically helps assist with "zero config" environments. Disabling bonjour may result in having to set certain applications manually instead.
