cisco rv180 and limitiation port forwarding

hi,

My client have rv042 and he complain about limitiation up to 30 port forwarding. I propose rv180 and I have to figure out that this router doesn't have port forwarding limitiation. Could you confirm this?

In datasheet rv180 I don't see that is any limit port forwarding.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps10907/ps9923/ps11995/c78-697397_data_sheet.html

in datasheet rv042 cisco write about limitiation:

Thanks,

lb

Good morning

Thanks for using our forum

Hi Lukasz, my name is Johnnatan and I am part of the Small business Support community.As far I know it supports more than 30 entries, however we are researching the exact number of entries, when I have an answer, I'll post it

Greetings,

Johnnatan Rodriguez Miranda.

“Please rate useful posts so other users can benefit from it” Greetings, Johnnatan Rodriguez Miranda. Cisco Network Support Engineer.

Sorry Jonathan,

But I have the same problem:i tried to forward more then 10 ports, but, unfortunatly, i cannot. I scan from outside my router and i see opened just 9 ports.

Dear Adrian,

Thank you for reaching Cisco Small Business Support Community.

As per the RV042 datasheet and admin guide the maximum number of port forwarding rules is 30, so my suggestion is first to make sure you are running the latest firmware release v4.2.2.08;

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282414010&softwareid=282465789&release=4.2.2.08&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

I would then make sure you follow the admin guide procedure to set up port forwarding, page 44;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/csbr/rv0xx/administration/guide/rv0xx_AG_78-19576.pdf

Please Adrian, let me know if the problem you are experiencing is with the RV180 and not the RV042 that in such a case the firmware update to release v1.0.2.6 would be the first step to accomplish.  I'll be looking forward to hear from you in case you require further assistance.

Dear Lukasz,

Thank you for your time and patience regarding this matter.

I found no limitation in the number of port forwarding entries on the RV180 or higher release Small Business Routers so in my opinion that means there is none.

I hope this answers your question and please do not hesitate to reach me back if there is any further assistance I may help you with.

Kind regards,

Hi Jeffrey,

Thanks for you quick response. Finally, I can forward all wanted ports.

But now, I have another problem: VPN is not working anymore.

I have it RV180 router with latest firmware, 1.0.2.6, and I set PPTP VPN. Initialy work for 2 days and without any cause stop to work.

You can see in attached picture the error.

Regards,

Adrian

Dear Adrian,

Please double check on the PPTP configuration, find on page 26 the right procedure;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/csbr/rv180w/administration/guide/rv180w_admin.pdf

I suggest you to turn off the Windows firewall as well and try to connect again.  I'll be looking forward to hear from you.

Thank you,

Nope, the same error.

I reset router to default settings, I recreate VPN, I delete from computer VPN connection, I tried from another clean computer...nada.

It seems to be a error for latest firmware. If I stay and thinking, the error it's start after update.

Hello Adrian,

I am sorry to hear about the unsuccessful results.

Notice PPTP server only works if it's IP range is in 192.168.xxx.xxx/24.  Besides that my only suggestion is to contact the Small Business Support Center;

Please do not hesitate to reach me back if there is anything I may assist you with in the meantime.

Thanks again,
