Good Morning,
I've recently changed my router and purchased a CISCO CRP527W.
I had an old NetComm NB6Plus4 thing that needed to change because i changed ISP.
I used to be able to access my network via VPN on MAC however I now can't.
I've been through all the port forwarding settings and set all the ports up to allow access and PC based machines are connecting to our network beautifully but i just can't make it work for MAC.
Does anyone know if there's any MAC specific protocals that need to be configured on the CISCO router?
Or does the CISCO not communicate properly with MAC?
If anyone can assist I would really appreciate it!!
Many Thanks
Rich

Hi Richard, ensure your SRP is on the latest firmware code. The built-in IPSec client on MAC is the same as the Cisco 5.x client. Support for this client was added on the most recent releases.
For SRP520-U models here is the firmware
For SRP520 model here is the firmware

Hi Tom,
Well i'm pretty sure it's not actually the router now..
I've managed to connect via VPN to my network and while connected i remote accessed my server and could see in the active remote sessions of my server settings that I was logged in so my server knows that i'm connected.
The problem I'm actaully now having is that i can't seem to navigate to my file server and the shared files locations on my server here.
So being as I can verify that i am connected via VPN to my network in the office... i'm wondering if there's any settings on the router that might not be allowing my MAC to talk to the file server or whether its a MAC setting or again whether its something no my server... i'm leaving towards the MAC / Server settings as i can clearly see that i'm connected.
any sugestions?
Many Thanks

Hi Richard, it is generally not the router function when you are able to connect and access some resources on the LAN while some others you can't. Depending how those shares work, can be a domain issue, perhaps a firewall IP route issue or another security function such as a firewall or 3rd party software. It may also be something silly such as a syntax error when you're trying to map a drive, so may double check your typing or trying to access via IP address instead of the share name to see if it has a difference.

Also keep in mind that unlike some other remote access solutions, SRP VPN clients use a different subnet to the other LAN clients, so appear "remote".
Ensure that your servers see the SRP as their default gateway and that they are not otherwise constrained from communicating with clients outside of the local subnet.

Andy
