How can I configure a RV180W router for "persistent connection"?

I am trying to use a RV180W router to access an IBM system using IBM Client Access emulating a 5250 terminal. The connections drop so often that we cannot work effectively. I have been told that the system needs a "persistent connection" to be maintained.   

Any suggestions?
