RV042 no longer allows VPN clients

I have 2 RV042 routers.  As of yesterday, for over 2 months, quick vpn has not been functioning.  I had a 2008 server installed; the tech could not get the quickvpn clients to the server, so his solution to give clients access was to map the server to the internet.  As you can imagine, it has been attacked consistently and we have since removed the server. Clients have not been able to use Linksys quickvpn client to connect.  I have had 3 different network technicians, and have been charged way too much for nothing, and the best i got was it being restored to its broken state.  We thought it was a flakey router, but both do the same thing.  Does anyone who knows what they are doing with these willing to remote into the router to help configure it, or is it best to buy a new router with support.

Wrong forum, try "small business -routers". You can delete posts made in error with the button under "Actions".

thanks

I am new to the forum but I thought I was in Small Business Routers.

Thank you very much for the info, the bad news

Do the Cisco Techs see these questions and answer and hopefully solve the problems?

I was reading the support site On

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/support/model/tsd_smb_router_rv042.html#0

where they publish additional info.

When I tried to download VPN related 2 articles it said restricted !!

When I try to download

Configuration of VPN Client Access on the RV016, RV042, RV082 routers

I receive

Restricted Article Access Denied document id:74b3c3116b3045beb15d7d2d5e231b4d_RV042_VPN_Client.xml

and for the

Configuration of Backup Virtual Private Network (VPN) Tunnel on RV016, RV042, and RV082

I receive

Restricted Article Access Denied document id:5b162b52fc614e48a0a5aa3d8d8554c2_Setting_up_Dual_WAN_management_on_the_RV042_via_Load_Balanci.xml

How can I get hold of them or is it because RV042 will not support that at all?

Good morning

Hi Bay, thanks for using our forum, my name is Johnnatan and I am part of the Small business Support community. Here you see the VPN client access configuration:

http://www6.nohold.net/CiscoSB/Loginr.aspx?login=1&pid=2&app=search&vw=1&articleid=679

This one is the information about the Backup VPN:

http://www6.nohold.net/CiscoSB/Loginr.aspx?login=1&pid=2&app=search&vw=1&articleid=3009

I also created a document about the remote access VPN, you see it here:

I hope you find this answer useful,

Greetings.

Cisco has a very useful tool called GuideMe, is made for small business products, and your device is in this category, you can use this address for accessing the tool:  http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/Loginr.aspx?alt1=&pid=4&eroute=Super , is very easy to use, just complete the 3  spaces on this way:

Select a category: (Select the device type on request), e.g. Routers

Enter model: (Type the model on request), e.g. RV042

Question: (Type what  you want to know  about the device), e.g. VPN

And it'll be showing all the information you need about what you wrote.

Thank you very much Jonathan,

I have enough ammunition not to try my RV042 VPN'ing.

Have you tried connecting clients via pptp?  I know it's not the most secure, but it may be a good temporary workaround depending on what situation you're in.
