rv042 v3 router mode, perf issue in one way

issue(1).png

The two rv in the top are my gateway (gateway mode)

I used a third rv042 (the only I have) to interconnect both network, I disabled firewall and set the router mode to 'Router', and I set both WAN speed to 100 000 Kb (max, it correspond to appreciatively to fastethernet speed 100Mb )

Wan interfaces of that router go to FE switches each connected to a separate rv as shown.

I added static route to fit the topology on both gateway (the rv at the top of the diagram)

everything ping, i have access form network A to B and B to A.

OK, now when I copy a file from a machine in network A to a machine it start copy at an average speed of 500KB/s and hangs later saying that the network place in nomore reachable.

When i do the same from B to A it run at 8 MB/s (full speed of the FE as I expect )

let me add that I'm running the firmware version 1.3.13.02-tm in the V1 &  the two V3 v4.0.4.02-tm.

I plan to upgrade firmware in the two V3, the V1 is up to date.

What am I missing ?

thanks Guys..

Dali,

Looking over your codification and noticed you have both networks join by the 3rd RV0xx router via it's WAN ports. The RV042 wasn't made to route traffic via WAN ports, But i think we do have a topology redesign for testing.

The 3rd routers will LAN settings will need to be configured with IP address of 192.168.1.2 (DHCP disabled) and wan address of 192.168.2.2. Now your 1.x router will be plugged into the LAN port of RV0xx 3rd router and coming from 192.168.2.x will be plugged into WAN port 1.  Now add your static routes accordingly.

Static route in 192.168.1.1 will be as following

Destination Ip – 192.168.2.0

Destination subnet0 – 255.255.255.0

Destination gateway – 192.168.1.2 (Being Lan interface of 3rd router)

Static route in 192.168.2.1 will be as following

Destination Ip – 192.168.1.0

Destination subnet0 – 255.255.255.0

Destination gateway – 192.168.2.2 (Being Wan interface of 3rd router)

Now test and see what the rest are and repost.

Hi again,

Let me add that graph, remark the red dots, it correspond to "connexion cut" from B to A.

I'll come back to you after the WE, with another graph after upgrading the firmware.

Your help is really appreciated.

Thanks

Thank you, your instruction were helpful,

I gained some performances here is some details :

A 1.5GB file transfert :

from A to B : started at ~5MB/s then reached a stable rate of 6,4MB/s (WAN -> LAN routing)

from B to A : started and continued at the stable rate of 7MB/s (LAN -> WAN routing)

here are some charts :

1- LAN interface of the 3rd router ( the interconexion router configured in route1r mode)

2- WAN 1 interface : connected to a LAN interface of the rv042 v1 (The A network : 192.168.2.0/24)

Now I figured out that the rv042 v1 is somhow overloaded so it sometimes becomes unreachable, I'll replace it with a v3.

Do you think that the V3 model would succeed to overcome this overload ?

Is The V3 more performant ?

Dali,

Yes the V3 basically has updated hardware.

Let me add a last thing :

I created in the gateways firewall-rules to ensure that everything between LANs can come & go.

(Was useful to be able to SNMP monitor the 192.168.1.1 from a 192.168.2.x host)
