RV220W - Upgrade failed when upgrading to 1.0.4.17 from 1.0.1.0

I am a router newbie.  I have a RV220W running 1.0.1.0.

When trying to upgrade to 1.0.4.17 I receive an error: "Upgrade failed due to invalid/corrupted firmware".

I found this article: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3437182#3437182

I assume I have to do a factory reset then an upgrade in order to upgrade properly.

If I do a backup running 1.0.1.0, then upgrade to 1.0.4.17, then do a restore, would that put me back to 1.0.1.0?  I'm trying to avoid configuring the router manually all over again.

Hi bpattersoncisco, thank you for using our forum, my name is Johnnatan I am part of the Small business Support community. I apologize for this issue you are having updating your device, you are right; in this case you can follow these steps:

1) Create a backup of your configuration.

2) Perform a factory reset.

3) Update your device with the last firmware version.

4) Perform a factory reset again in order to complete the process.

5) Upload your previous configuration.

This process will update your firmware and you will save your time with the configuration. I hope you find this answer useful,
