RV320-RV320 VPN enable IPCOMP kills traffic

We have two RV320 with a working IPSEC VPN tunnel between them. Enabling IP compression under advanced settings kills all traffic and I can no longer reach the other side.

IP compression enabled on both sides and tunnel shows connected. firmware 1.2.1.13  on one side and 1.1.1.19 on the other side.

Im answering my own question. When using IP Compression ( IPCOMP ) you need to open ports between the external ip's of the routers as some traffic goes outside the vpn tunnel.
