RVS4000 upgrade - do I have to?????

My client has a RVS4000 using firmware version 1.1.12.  We use the VPN tunnel all day every day.  It works fine but I have been receiving notices that the firmware is outdated.  In this forum I have read a lot of posts about problems after upgrading.  Is there any reason why I must upgrade or is this a case of "if it aint broke don't fix it".

Hi,

No you do not have to upgrade any Router.

However, you should in my opinion. And for a number of reasons.

1. When you call for support, most support orginaztions will not help you until you are on the latest versions of the firmware.
2. Problems you may run into can be already fixed in later versions of the firmware.
3. The look and feel could be different in later versions of the firmware. So, when you are telling the support people what you see. They may not see the same thing or may have newer options you do not have with an older version.
4. Any fixies are always made to the newest version of any firmware.
5. Nobody has the staff or money to make fixies to older versions of any firmware.

This is only a few of the reasons. There are more.
