Hi Group,

we have WRVS4400N WAN port connected to our ISP and we have just introduced SonicWALL TZ500. we want to use SonicWALL as our gateway and wanted WRVS4400N to route all traffic through to the SonicWALL connected physically on switch port 4 on WRVS4400N.

the WRVS4400N is set on router mode/DHCP is off/Wireless is OFF/DMZ off/IPS off.  we are unable to go out on internet through SonicWALL set as a gateway through our LAN. yet if I plug in my laptop directly to WRVS4400N and configure static Ip with WRVS4400N as my gateway it works fine. please needs some help.

Thanks

RJ

Thanks for contacting Cisco,

Please confirm topology:

internet - Sonicwall - WRVS44000 - LAN

Basically you need the WRVS4400n to be a switch. Correct?

Thus the link between  the Sonicwall and the WRVS is LAN to LAN.

Set the WRVS4400n to Gateway mode and set the LAN IP in the same subnet as the Sonicwall and do not connect anything to the WAN port of the WRVS

Leave the DHCP off on the WRVS.

Allow your PC to get an IP address from the Sonicwall.  This should give the PC a default gateway of the Sonicwall.

Best Regards

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the prompt response

confirming the topology

Internet-WRVS4400-SonicWall-LAN

Thanks

Rj

What is the purpose of 2 routers?  WRVS4400 - Sonicwall?

If you have 2 routers connecting from LAN to WAN, then the 2 router must have different LAN subnets.

If you have 2 router connecting LAN to LAN, then the 2 routers can be on the same LAN Subnet.

How are you routers connected?

Regards,

We are not to familiar with SonicWall so we have an 3rd party monitor and configure the SonicWALL, The Purpose of adding WRVS4400 is, as per our SonicWall team the TZ500 is unable to perform routing capabilities.

ISP Ethernet handoff connected to WRVS4400 WAN port. LAN port 4 connected to SonicWALL with static ip assigned from the LAN block provided by the AT&T ISP.

Thanks

RJ

Please provide topology with IP addresses:

ISP to WAN of WRVS - IP?

LAN from WRVS to what on the Sonicwall ( LAN or WAN ) IPs?...

LAN IP Block assigned : 12.105.207.64/27

WRVS

ISP to WAN : 206.121.144.186 (Assigned by ISP)
