SA520 - random reboot - no idea why !

Hi,

I'm using a SA520 in a hospital in oder to manage VPN and Internet access. They were some troubleshooting with VPN and it seems ok now for 1  month. But for 15 days, the router seems to reboot randomly (2 or 3 time per day) ... why ? i don't know, i had no errors (just one with VPN) ..

The firmware is 2.1.71 (updated for1 month) :  during the night, it seems better ... The CPU is less than 5% used, the Memory is used around 50% .

below the only error that i have (after reboot):

Sat Jan  1 01:05:18 2000(GMT +0100)WARNVPN no phase2 bounded.
Component: VIPSECURE
Sat Jan  1 01:05:19 2000(GMT +0100)WARNVPN no phase2 found for "P_Labo_xxxxx"
Component: VIPSECURE
Sat Jan  1 01:05:19 2000(GMT +0100)WARNVPN no phase1 found for "Labo_xxxxxxx"
Component: VIPSECURE
Tue Jan 15 10:57:14 2013(GMT +0100)WARNFIREWALL *******The above log repeated 1 times *******
Component: FIREWALL
Tue Jan 15 11:32:20 2013(GMT +0100)ERRORVPN no iph2 found: ESP xxxxxxxxx>xxxxxxxxx with spi=1995742034(0x76f49b52)
Component: VIPSECURE
Tue Jan 15 17:39:40 2013(GMT +0100)WARNFIREWALL *******The above log repeated 2 times *******
Component: FIREWALL

How can i do to obtain logs before reboot ?

Thanks

SA520 - random reboot - no idea why !

Hi, yes a default will probably help everything. The release notes indicate the router should be reset on the 2.2.0.7 upgrade. If you call support they will also ask you to do this.

Hi Ghislain, to get logs before reboot you would need an external syslog server. Just another note, the 2.2.0.7 firmware is now released. You may want to look in to this as well.

Here's the firmware link

SA520 - random reboot - no idea why !

Hi thanks to help,

Ho a new firmware but excepted the H323 over VPN, i don't see really but I"ll upgrade soon.

However, I saw that just before a crash, my CPU was at 100% and 86% is used by kernel !

Often, the CPU is around 20%. rarely more than 30% ....The routeur manage 1 WAN, 2 VPN and routing over 3 VLAN. IPS and proteclink are disable and Firewall with no spécial rules.

Have u an idea hos to know what's happens ?

On log just before crash;

I had :

- 1 error :

ERRORVPN no iph2 found: ESP xxxxxxxxx>xxxxxxxxx with spi=1995742034(0x76f49b52)
Component: VIPSECURE

Also, I disable The ALG SIP.. If we don't use, it's better to disable it ?

SA520 - random reboot - no idea why !

Hi Ghislain, for log review and such, this should be taken up with the support center. There is not a documentation of what the log entry means and a lot of times it would be guess work. Usually engineering / tier2 have to investigate what the specific error codes mean instead of the generalized batch.

Here's the SBSC numbers

SA520 - random reboot - no idea why !

Hy,

thanks to help,

I tried to upgrade the firmware to 2.2.0.7 but, the WAN interface was still down ....I saw there is a new value "Service" ...but even if WAN is allright after modifie that value , The routeur crash and crash again every 20 minutes. So I downgrade to 2.1.7. It's crashing now 2ou 3 time per day.

- Also at Each reboot, the routeur lost its time set... and restart in 2008 or worst. Is it normal ?

- Also, for 3 month, if the routeur has been upgraded from 1.1.65 to 2.1.7 and to 2.2.0.7 , do you think that a factory reset will can do something ?

I did a default and did my config manually.  It seems stable.

We also swap the modem and it's ok.

Thx a lot. I Hope it's allright.
