SWSS firmware upgrades

Im not sure if this post is in the right area, if not please feel free to relocate it.

Is it possible to purchase a Catalyst 1000 series switch, and have access to firmware updates without any type of support contract? 

Reason im asking this question is that im investigating TCO on different brands of Enterprise switches, and the SWSS is over time a fairly expensive contract.

Check. Is there a support contract which only includes software updates and nothing else? or alternately which contract includes the least functionality.

The short answer is no. All service contracts include software support. Here is an excerpt of what typical service contracts include (in this example CAT1K):
