The UC 500 Software Packs bundle all the necessary files for the UC 500 Series platform. The files include UC 500 IOS image, voicemail and automated attendant CUE software, IP Phone firmware files, and multiple TAR/archive files for various components of the UC 500 (for example vlan information, default configuration files for each product SKU, ringer files for IP Phones, music-on-hold files, background images for colored IP Phones, etc.). The UC 500 Software Packs are thoroughly tested with CCA releases and are pre-installed on UC 500 shipped from Cisco.
For any questions relating to the UC 500 Software Packs please email uc500-swp@cisco.com.

A UC 500 Software Pack contains a bundle of various software components resulting to a large zip file - E.g. 300MB. To validate the integrity of the Software Pack before use with CCA the checksum of the Software Pack can be compared to the MD5 checksum posted here. A program like FSUM can be used to compute the checksum-

11-30-2010 - Software Pack 8.0.5 and the corresponding CUE localization files have been posted on the Support Community and CCO. SWP 8.0.2 and 8.0.4 along with the corresponding localization files will be removed from the Support Community on 12-3-2010. If these files are needed after their removal they can still be downloaded from CCO, or email uc500-swp@cisco.com to request the specific files needed.
I too am a bit disappointed in this. Seems like a long time for essentially a minor maintenance release.
Scott, Bill,
During the initial integration and testing of CCA 3.1 with IOS 15.1(4)M1 (required for CME 8.6) , a serious IOS limitation was discovered that prevented CCA from functioning properly. At that point, CCA team had made a decision to integrate with IOS 15.1(2)T4.
Despite of the software pack changes, CCA 3.1 will be a major release, offering many of the highly requested features mentioned on this forum, such as capability to disable DHCP on UC500, cabability to customize softkeys on the phone templates, capability to customize backgrounds and ringtones for the IP Phones with a simple drag-and-drop, support for bilingual voicemail, bilingual AA, bilingual system prompts, increase in the number of supported single-level AAs to 5, and many, many other features.
Thank you,
Anna
for the second time in a month i have my uc520 crashing and reloading, after some search i found that it is caused by the bug CSCth18611, in ios 15.1(2)T2, will the new release include a fix ?
thanks
I think there is a mistake about SW pack 8.6.0. ?
On other platforms, CME 8.8 come with 15.2(1)T, not 15.1(4)M
And if the idea of of staying aligned with CME version, it will be renamed 8.8 likely.
Hi Anna,
The first thing we do is remove CCA and configure these systems properly by CLI as we would with any other CME installation. Can we at the least get the IOS release, even if it's marked beta or similar and says CCA will not work with it?
As mentioned there are a number of sales on hold until 8.6 support is available as customers are insisting on having 9900 series phones so they can have video support at the desk.
These installations are for 5-10 users so it would be total overkill to put in 2900 series routers just to get 9900 series phone support.
Cisco builds high quality products and gives customers confidence they won't be left behind, please don't kill that off by forcing slow releases just so CCA can catch up.
-Scott
Scott,
Well said. While I applaud Cisco for trying to engineer a GUI that actually works, I do not feel that those of us (and our representative clients) that are skilled with CLI configurations should be penalized. The UC560 has the potential to be a great product, but it needs to stay current if it is to stay relevant in the marketplace.
Rick
I can't believe that very important updates are held back, just because the CCA doesn't work.
We only once tried to configure a UC500 with CCA and that piece of software, including the 3.0.1 version, is just not working properly, espacially here in Germany.
So please release 8.6 for early developers. We only use CLI and holding back UC500 sales, just because we're waiting for the next software release.
Waiting for 8.8 in december and eventually even longer isn't what my customers and me expect from Cisco.
Not trying to beat a dead horse, but just adding another voice asking for 8.6 even without CCA support. When I first started working with UC500's, I used CCA. But then I did some searching online and found all the things CCA didn't support and was only supported through CLI. As I've continued working with the UC500 series, I've found that I do more and more with CLI, and less and less with CCA.
CCA is a great feature, and I am not suggesting it should be discontinued. I am asking that as in pervious releases, and like others above, release 8.6 with the caveat that CCA is not supported (yet).
Dec is an eternity for people who have been waiting for 9900 series phones.
There are some real limitations with the 8961, 9951, and 9971 IP phones in CME 8.x that do not exist with the 7900 series IP phones.
Here are limitations with the 8961, 9951, and 9971 IP phones in CME 8.x:
These limitations also exist with CME on non-UC500 platforms. Although the 7975G phone lacks built-in video support found on the 8941, 8945, 9951, and 9971 IP phones, the 7975G phone has a nice color touchscreen, is better integrated with CME 8.x, has 8 line buttons, and supports the SCCP protocol as well as the SIP protocol.
Thanks John P,
And CUVA III is pretty cheap to add Video to the 7975 anyway :-)
Can we get the MD5 hashes for the newest 8.2.0 software pack?
Hi Oni;
Yes, we will post shortly, sorry for the missing piece here.
Alberto
I just wanted to point this out to anyone that doesn't frequent the UC 500 Software Packs page. The relase timeframe for "8.x.0" ie 8.6 is now January of 2012.

I second this opinion.
8 months between release cycle in this industry is unacceptable.
Cisco SMB, do you really want to loose all this market segment to the competitors ?
Please add WCCP configuration into the next version of CCA. Cisco Scansafe, the cloud based offering for web filtering is a key component to the UC500 since it does not offer any web filtering. The WCCP config in CCA will allow partners to forward traffic into the Scansafe cloud without CLI.
