Background
With CCA 1.7, locale management is split between the Voice and Software Upgrade screens. The following 3 steps detail how to upgrade IOS and CUE firmware and change the locale from the default US English to UK English.
Step 1: Upgrade IOS/CME
Preparation
- Obtain the UC520 firmware package from the software download page (UC520-4.2.8.zip).
- Copy to a convenient location on your PC.
Procedure
- Run CCA and select Maintenance > Software Upgrade
- Click on the UC500 entry to select, then click Upgrade Settings
- Click on the All radio button, then browse to the UC520 Zip file.
- Click OK - If the UC500 is already running the selected software, choose to install or skip as appropriate.
- Click Upgrade. This process could take 10 to 15 minutes to complete, depending on which components will be upgraded.
Step 2: Localise / Upgrade CUE
Preparation
- From the UC500 firmware bundle (UC520-4.2.8.zip) open the CUE firmware bundle (SCUE-UC520-3.0.3.zip)
- Extract all CUE firmware files to the c:\program files\Cisco Systems\CiscoSMB\Cisco Configuration Assistant\appdata\phoneloads directory.
- Obtain the CUE localisation file from the software download page and copy to the same directory as above.
Procedure
- Run CCA and select Maintenance > Software Upgrade
- Click on the UC500 entry to select, then click Upgrade Settings
- Check the CUE radio button (Not All)
- 'Browse to the phoneloads directory that now holds the CUE firmware.
- You will be presented with three package files. Select cm-vm.ise.3.0.3.pkg. If you select any other package, the process will fail.
- Choose English UK from the Language drop down.
- Click on the Upgrade button. This process could take 10 minutes or so to complete, but will not require further input.
Step 3: Localise CME
Preparation
- Obtain the UC500 CME Localisation bundle from the software download page (CME-locale-en_UK-4.1.0.0.tar).
- Copy this file to the c:\program files\Cisco Systems\CiscoSMB\Cisco Configuration Assistant\appdata\phoneloads directory.
Procedure
- Run CCA and select Configure > Telephony > Voice.
- Select the System tab.
- Select United Kingdom from the Region drop down.
- Although there is an option to select "UK English" from the Phone Language drop down, CME actually uses US English - so leave the US Setting.
- Click OK
