Configuration of Setup Wizard on Cisco Spam & Virus Blocker

Objective

Spam and Virus Blocker is a technique used to filter the incoming and outgoing emails. A spam and virus blocker keeps you from receiving unwanted emails from advertisers and emails which have viruses attached to them.

This article explains how to configure the blocker through the setup wizard.

System Setup Wizard

Step 1. Use the Blocker Configuration Utility to choose System Administration > System Setup Wizard.

Note: When the System Setup Wizard is chosen, the blocker will display a warning message that the configuration including the network configuration is being reset.

Step 2. Click Reset Configuration to reset the device to its default settings.

Step 3. After the device is reset to factory defaults connect the PC to the blocker, a Ready to Stop Spam window opens. Click get started.

Step 4. Read the License Agreement and check the I accept the terms and this license agreement check box, then click Next.

Step 5. Enter the Company Information along with the Primary and Secondary Contact Information about the user in the Registration page and then click Next.

Step 6. Enter the host name of the blocker in the Blocker Hostname field.

Step 7. Enter the IP address of the blocker in the Blocker IP Address field.

Step 8. The subnet mask of the blocker is automatically generated in the Subnet Mask field.

Step 9. Enter the default gateway of the blocker in the Gateway IP Address field.

Step 10. Choose the time zone from the Time Zone drop-down list.


Step 11. Choose an option from the DNS area:

• Use the Internet's Root DNS Server — Click this option to use the DNS server from the internet.

• Use the specified DNS Server — Click this option and enter a specific DNS server in the DNS Server IP Address field.

Step 12. Check the Help Fight Spam check box, which allows the user to share information about spams with Cisco in order to prevent spam in the future.

Step 13. Click the Block and Quarantine option in the Anti-Spam Policy area, to block the spam and quarantine it without delivering it to the inbox, check the and notify users with daily digest check box to notify the users with a daily digest about the spams.

Step 14. Click the Quarantine All option, to quarantine all the spams before delivering to the inbox, check the and notify users with daily digest check box to notify the users with a daily digest about the spams.

Step 15. Click the Tag and Deliver option to tag the spam and deliver it to the inbox.

Step 16. Check the Block Viruses check box in the Anti-Virus Policy area to block all the mails with viruses attached to it. Click Next.

Step 17. Review the configuration in the Review area and click Install Configuration.

Step 18. After the install configuration button is clicked a pop-up window opens displaying information to confirm the configuration, click Install.

Step 19. A window opens displaying information that the Blocker has been successfully installed.
