Objective
A security license is needed to run security services successfully and also to support Secure Socket Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL VPN), which authenticates a user to access a restricted network remotely with mobile devices such as smart phones or tablets. It does this securely through the encryption of all network traffic.
The objective of this document is to guide you on how to renew the security license through the use of a PAK (Product Authorization Key) or a file downloaded from Cisco.com on the ISA500 Series Integrated Security Appliances.

Renew Security License
Step 1. Log in to the ISA500 Series Configuration Utility and choose Device Management > License Management. The License Management page opens:
Step 2. Click the Action icon to renew the license. The Install License window appears.
Renew Security License through the Use of a PAK
Step 1. Choose License Code (PAK) from Cisco.com from the License Type drop-down list. The PAK option automatically retrieves and installs the license on the security appliance from the Cisco server.
Step 2. In the License Code field, enter the PAK code provided by the vendor.
Step 3. In the Cisco.com Login field, enter the necessary Cisco username.
Step 4. In the Cisco.com Password field, enter the appropriate Cisco password that goes with the entered username.
Step 5. In the Email Address field, enter the e-mail which was provided to the vendor in order to receive the PAK code.
Step 6. Check the I accept the terms and conditions in the Software End User License Agreement check box.
Step 7. Click Validate License to validate the license credentials.
Note: After the license is added, the License Management page looks like the image above.
Renew Security License by a Downloaded File from Cisco.com
Step 1. Choose License File download from Cisco.com from the License Type drop-down list. The downloaded file option installs a security license that was previously downloaded to the PC.
Step 2. Click the Browse button to search for the file on the PC.
Step 3. Choose the correct license file and click Open.
Step 4. Check the I accept the terms and conditions in the Software End User License Agreement check box.
Step 5. Click Validate License to validate the license file that was just uploaded.
Note: After the license is added the License Management page looks like the image above.
