Installing and Activating Service on the Cisco TelePresence System EX60 and Cisco TelePresence System EX90 Endpoints

This document describes the steps that you need to follow to install and activate the Cisco TelePresence Callway service on the Cisco TelePresence System EX60 (EX60) and the Cisco TelePresence Service EX90 (EX90) endpoints.

Note: For additional information about how to use the Cisco TelePresence System Codec C-Series endpoints, refer to the documentation at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11327/tsd_products_support_series_home.html and navigate to End User Guides.  Look for the documentation that is applicable to your version of software.

Before You Begin

You will need some or all of the following resources, depending on your IP addressing implementation and the service activation method that you choose to follow.

  • A terminal client that is capable of Secure Shell (SSH2) connectivity; for example, PuTTY, which is available at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
  • Access to the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) resource that assigns IP addresses to network devices, including the Cisco TelePresence Callway endpoints.
  • Ethernet LAN cabling.
  • Cisco TelePresence Callway endpoint subscription credentials, which include the video number and activation code.

You should also be aware of the factory reset procedure for your EX60/EX90 endpoint. To perform this procedure, use your ssh-capable terminal client.
Step 1.   Using ssh, access your endpoint by logging in as admin.  By default, the password is blank.  If you configured a non-blank password, enter it now.

Step 2.  Issue the following command:  xCommand SystemUnit FactoryReset Confirm: Yes

Installation and Service Activation Procedure

To install your endpoint and activate the Cisco TelePresence Callway service, follow these steps:

Step 1. Power up your endpoint and connect it to the network.

- If DHCP is used, the endpoint powers up and obtains an IP address automatically.
- If a static IP addressing scheme is used, navigate the menu system and configure the endpoint with the appropriate IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.  Make note of the IP address of the endpoint.

Step 2. For DHCP implementations, use the menu system to locate the IP address of the endpoint by navigating to More > Settings > System Information.  For static IP addressing schemes, the DNS server must also be specified so that the endpoint can locate the proxy server.

Step 3. From a PC on the same LAN, open a browser and point to the IP address of your endpoint; for example, http://<endpoint IP address>.
- A web page displays system information about your software version.

Step 4. If you are prompted for login credentials, enter admin as the default user name.  By default, the password is blank, but if you configured a non-blank password, enter it now.  Make a note of the currently installed software version.

Step 5. If your endpoint software does not meet the minimum required version, or if you need to otherwise change the installed software version, go to the following URL to download the appropriate endpoint software:  http://www.tandberg.com/support/video-conferencing-software-download.jsp.

Step 6. Click Endpoints and Telepresence; then, click EX60 or EX90 to access the software download page for your endpoint. Click Download Software and save the image to your local PC.

Step 7. After you download the software image to your local PC, return to the endpoint system information page to begin the software upgrade process.

Step 8. Click Upgrade Software; then, click Browse to find the local directory to which you downloaded the software.  Choose the binary image and click Upgrade.
- Please wait while the endpoint reboots and comes back up (about 3-5 minutes).

Step 9. Perform a factory reset on your endpoint, as described above, to make sure that all settings are reset to default. If you configured a static IP address on your endpoint, you will need to repeat the configuration process after the factory reset.
- After your endpoint has powered up and initialized, you can begin the provisioning process by using the
inTouch interface.

Step 10. Under Select infrastructure, in the Configure Your EX60 (or EX90) screen, touch Cisco TelePresence Callway; then, touch Next.

Step 11. To enter the video number that was assigned to your endpoint, touch the Video number entry field.  The touch-screen keyboard displays.  Toggle between alpha and numeric modes to enter the data.  Repeat for the Activation code field; then, touch Close to close the keyboard mode.

Step 12. Touch Register to begin the activation process.
Within about 10 seconds, a message displays to confirm whether the activation process was successful.  Touch OK to continue.

Note: If your endpoint activation was not successful, verify that you entered the correct video number and activation code, as assigned to your endpoint. Re-enter this information, if necessary. Also, make sure that firewalls in your network are configured to allow outbound connections on TCP port 5060 and that they do not prematurely close the connections. To obtain support for endpoint activation issues, access the Cisco TelePresence Callway Support web site at http://support.callway.com/.

Step 13. After successful registration to the Cisco TelePresence Callway service network, the endpoint displays your URI in the top bar of the inTouch display and is now ready to use.  Test your endpoint by calling other Cisco TelePresence Callway endpoints or compatible video collaboration endpoints, or place and receive Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) calls.  You can also call the Cisco TelePresence Callway Line Quality Test tool, which is available at http://test.callway.com, to run additional tests. For detailed information about this tool, refer to the Testing:  Using the Cisco TelePresence Callway Line Quality Test Tool FAQs.

To restart the provisioning process, access the provisioning screen from the inTouch menu by navigating to More > Settings > Admin Settings > Provisioning.  Complete the video number and activation code fields, as described above.
