The UC 500 Software Packs bundle all the necessary files for the UC 500 Series platform. The files include UC 500 IOS image, voicemail and automated attendant CUE software, IP Phone firmware files, and multiple TAR/archive files for various components of the UC 500 (for example vlan information, default configuration files for each product SKU, ringer files for IP Phones, music-on-hold files, background images for colored IP Phones, etc.). The UC 500 Software Packs are thoroughly tested with CCA releases and are pre-installed on UC 500 shipped from Cisco.

A UC 500 Software Pack contains a bundle of various software components resulting to a large zip file - E.g. 300MB. To validate the integrity of the Software Pack before use with CCA the checksum of the Software Pack can be compared to the MD5 checksum posted here. A program like FSUM can be used to compute the checksum-

11-30-2010 - Software Pack 8.0.5 and the corresponding CUE localization files have been posted on the Support Community and CCO. SWP 8.0.2 and 8.0.4 along with the corresponding localization files will be removed from the Support Community on 12-3-2010. If these files are needed after their removal they can still be downloaded from CCO, or email uc500-swp@cisco.com to request the specific files needed.
Nope. The 8.5 software is not yet available for the UC500. You will need to be patient a little while longer. Once the 8.5 software bundle has been released, then the 9900 phones will be in a similar position to the 6900s now - technically possible, but not supported.
Cheers,
Dave.
You can find documentation and other details linked off the CUE product page at www.cisco.com/go/cue. And yes, the CUE GUI no longer has the extensions and users piece. That was really the CUE GUI embedding part of the CME web pages, which are no longer being supported. Because the CME GUI was no longer being maintained, the CUE team removed the embedding from the CUE GUI.
Cheers,
Dave.
Thanks for the update/clarification Dave.
"You will need to be patient a little while longer" ... That sounds promising...
Any eta/guidance/general plan.... that you can share on 8.5 being available for UC500?
Depending on the schedule we hope to bundle CME 8.6 in the next Software Pack. If not CME 8.6 it will be CME 8.5.
I may have raised some unreasonably high hopes with my 'little while' comment. Anthony will correct me if I have this wrong as he is the master of all things software bundle, but the next software bundle released will be 8.1.0 sometime in the next week or two I think. The 8.5/8.6 bundle will be the one after that. Typically we have around three months or so between major releases, so I would expect this should be around the March/April timeframe.
So a little while is still a few months I'm afraid.
Cheers,
Dave.
Dave -
But March/April is better than JuneJuly or Nov/Dec.
So, no worries.
Thanks!
Greg
Dave's right here. SWP 8.1.0 will be released later on in December and then CME 8.5/8.6 will be bundled in the next SWP afterwards.
Are there plans for a software pack ZIP file that contains all of the files needed for the UC520, UC540, and UC560 within a single ZIP file in the future? Some of the SBCS partners would like to be able to download a single ZIP file containing the files needed for the UC520, UC540, and UC560 platforms instead of having to download three separate ZIP files.
Anthony/Dave -
In Dec, the eta for 8.6.0. was Mar/Apr 2011.
Now, it appears 8.6.0 will be Apr/May 2011.
Is that true?
Can you share the reason(s) for the change?
Thanks!
Are there plans to support the 6945, 8961, 9951, and/or 9951 phones in 8.6.0?
8.2.0 is the next scheduled release... A change from what had been posted.
To follow up John's question ... will those models be supported in 8.2.0?
Thanks!
Hi Gregory,
8900/9900 phones require CME 8.5 or higher.
6945 requires CME 8.8.
Software pack 8.2.0 will include CME 8.1, so these phone support won't be included yet. We are considering to support the above mentioned endpoints in the software pack 8.6.0.
Thank you,
Anna
Thank you for the reply.
However, CME 8.5 was originally part of the software release for July (that was going to be release in Mar/Apr).
Now it has been removed.
I've been 'storing' 9951 phones while I wait.
Is there unofficial support available before the release of 8.6.0, currently schedueld for December?
Thanks
Hi Gregory,
Unfortunately, no unofficial support will be available until 8.6.0 is out.
Thank you,
Anna
What is the reason for 8.6.0 being delayed again? We're seriously unhappy about this, a number of sales have been on hold waiting for 9900 phone support as customers are specifically requesting them.
This just further downgrades the UC500 series, we've already had TAC replaced with Small Business Pro Support which is bad enough and the SR520 routers can't run IOS 15, which given they're a relatively new model is poor.
Why can't we at the least have an Early Adopter software pack with CME 8.6 support?
