This issue may be related to your domain name system (DNS). If your Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server provides DNS, you will not be able to verify your DNS information on the device display or web page.

To verify your DNS information, log in to the device using a Secure Shell (SSH) client:

  1. Log in with the user name admin.
  2. When you are prompted for a password, enter your password if you set one up. If you did not set up a password, simply press Enter.
  3. Enter the command xstatus Network. The output will contain the DNS server information. Here is an example:
xstatus Network
*s Network 1 Ethernet MacAddress: "00:50:60:04:98:C4"
*s Network 1 Ethernet Speed: "100full"
*s Network 1 IPv4 Address: "10.10.10.12"
*s Network 1 IPv4 SubnetMask: "255.255.255.0"
*s Network 1 IPv4 Gateway: "10.10.10.1"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Domain Name: "cisco.com"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 1 Address: "10.10.10.1"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 2 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 3 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 4 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 5 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv6 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv6 Gateway: ""
*s Network 1 MTU: 1500
** end

If the output of xstatus Network displays as follows, the DNS Server 1 is the same as the Gateway. In this scenario, you need to change the addresses of the DNS servers so that they all have public IP addresses.

*s Network 1 Ethernet MacAddress: "00:50:60:04:98:C4"
*s Network 1 Ethernet Speed: "100full"
*s Network 1 IPv4 Address: "10.10.10.12"
*s Network 1 IPv4 SubnetMask: "255.255.255.0"
*s Network 1 IPv4 Gateway: "10.10.10.1"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Domain Name: "cisco.com"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 1 Address: "10.10.10.1"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 2 Address: "67.87.78.134"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 3 Address: "68.87.78.134"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 4 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 5 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv6 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv6 Gateway: ""
*s Network 1 MTU: 1500
** end

Here is an example of the correct output:

*s Network 1 Ethernet MacAddress: "00:50:60:04:98:C4"
*s Network 1 Ethernet Speed: "100full"
*s Network 1 IPv4 Address: "10.10.10.12"
*s Network 1 IPv4 SubnetMask: "255.255.255.0"
*s Network 1 IPv4 Gateway: "10.10.10.1"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Domain Name: "cisco.com"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 1 Address: "67.87.76.182"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 2 Address: "67.87.78.134"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 3 Address: "4.2.2.2"
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 4 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv4 DNS Server 5 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv6 Address: ""
*s Network 1 IPv6 Gateway: ""
*s Network 1 MTU: 1500
** end

If this output does not contain the DNS server information, you can manually enter the information in the display menu for the E series devices or on the web page for the C, EX, MX, SX, and VX series devices. For instructions about how to change the DNS information on WebEx Telepresence devices, see WebEx Telepresence: Change the DNS information.
