Good Afternoon,

I have this switch but as you can see at the picture, this device was never updated or was maintained.

I am trying to upgrade and take care of this. But i need some guidance on how to solve the issue with the firmware first.

Any suggestion, opinion is more than welcome.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

My name is Puneet Sandel and i am from Cisco small business technical support center. You will need to check the boot version also. Cisco 200 series switches have two things:

1. Boot Version

2. Firmware Version

You will have to upgrade both Boot code and firmware version of the switch.

Boot code needs to be upgraded via TFTP and firmware through HTTP/HTTPS.

Important: Upgrade the boot code first via TFTP and then formware through HTTP. Also once boot code gets upgraded, you will need to reboot the switch once.

You need to download the file from the below link. It contains the latest boot code. You will need to upgrade boot code to 1.3.5.06 and upgrade the firmware to 1.4.0.88

https://software.cisco.com/download/home/283771828/type/282463182/release/1.4.0.88

Once the boot code gets upgraded to 1.3.5.06 and firmware version to 1.4.088 then you can directly upgrade the firmware to 1.4.11.04. Please find below the link to download 1.4.11.04 firmware version.

https://software.cisco.com/download/home/283771828/type/282463182/release/1.4.11.04

Please find below the links to upgrade the boot code as well as firmware on the device.

Make sure you select correct active image in the end and reboot the switch for the upgrade to take effect.

Please mark the thread as solution on case your issue gets resolved.

 -  Power cycle the device, if  you still can not observe the current version installed , then proceed with the intended upgrade anyway as the current version installed is probably old. Check if you can verify the firmware version after the upgrade.
