ESW 540 24 10/100/1000 POE Firmware upgrade

It seams a new firmware was issued on the cisco download site on january 11 :

ESW_540_K9_2.1.16.zip

I have succesfully downloaded this file, but each time I try to unzip it, I get an error.

I have tried to download it several times, using different navigator and different pcs or macs and using the donwload manager or without it, and I get the same result.

Also the md5sum of the downloaded file is the one indicated on the download screen :

So the conclusion is that this archive is corrupted.

As this product is for the SMB market, I am unable to open a case on the Cisco site to ask for a working version.

Who is responsible for this and how to get a good version ?

I downloaded the file, and was having the same problem extracting the files.

I was able to open the zip file, and then right click on the (esw540-k9-2116.ros) file, copy and paste it, but I can not do the same for the (cisco_ge_boot-10004.rfb).

Looks like there may be a problem with the zip file.

I jumped into the middle of this and have some information to share.

Firmware release Notes:

states about the first table... (refer to the table):

In the table above the boot version is different for the 8 port models versus the 24 and 48 port models.

Software version 2.1.16 requires boot version 1.0.0.7 for the two 8 port models

• esw520-8p-k9-2116.ros for ESW-520-8P
• esw540-8p-k9-2116.ros for ESW-540-8P

The remaining 24 and 48 port models require boot version 1.0.0.4. if the switch does not have the boot version released in May 2008.
These are esw520-k9-2116.ros for

- Pages 374 - 376 describe the options on the Software  Upgrade page.

File Type = Software Image for .ros  files

File Type = Boot Code for .rfb  files

Basic Outline:

1.  Upgrade Boot Code (PC --> ESW)

2.  Upgrade Software Image (PC -->  ESW)

3.  Change Active Image

4.  Save Configuration

5.  Reboot

The Getting Started section of the Admin Guide should have  text on how to upgrade the Boot Code.

Software Download should have both the boot code and the Image file listed separetly now:

A Final note:  CCA does not support boot code upgrade on the ESW switches, only Firmware.
