Hey I am Manuel from Miysis. Even though I don't know much about networks and switches I manage the network in our 23 person company.
We are about to buy a new main Data server and setup a "new" network.
The new Server will probably be a Synology RS3617xs+ with an additional 2 port 10g network card (E10G17-F2)
We're using 2 Cisco SG500-52 as our main switches for now.
Now the question is: how do we connect everything and still keep the 10G?
My Idea was to get one Cisco SG350XG-24F 10G, then connect :
- the Synology with the two 10g directly to the SG350XG
- the 2 sg500-52 via their 1g/5g sfp stackable ports to the normal 10g Sg350XG ports.
Attached a schematic of what I had in mind.
Is this even possible?
If yes what will the transfer rate be between the two sg500-52 and the sg350XG; 5g or 1g?
If not is there another possibility without changing our existing switches?
Thank you in advance,
Manuel
