Hi

A customer of mine is having serious problems with several ESW-500 switches.

He started a discussion under Netpro, but haven't received any answers. This might be the right group?

He wrote:

I have two new esw-540 switches (one 48 port  and one 8 port),

which are making unauthorized cold starts and  that gives me a lot problems.

(now it is about three switches)

I added:

Hello!

My name is Robert and I am network engineer for the Cisco SBSC. This is the correct place for the ESW500 series.

From the error messages you are seeing, I would recommend to disable the Bonjour service to see if that helps with the reboots. I am currently looking into the error messages you are getting to see if there is a solution. I would recommend giving us a call as well for immediate assistance on the error messages. Below is a link for our support center numbers.

Hi

Thank you!

But unfortunately it didn't help.

He disabled Bonjour this morning, and got a new cold start at 14.22CET.

Have you found anything else in the error messages?

I am sorry to hear that it did not help. I did find a few cases with the matching error message. The solution on these cases was to update to the latest firmware release. From the look of your error messages, it appears the switches are on the latest (2.1.19).

You can certainly confirm this and even reflash the latest firmware, but if that does not solve the problem, I would suggest you call us to open a case.

You are correct, all the switches have the latest firmware as far as I know.

I will have to have my customer call you to open a case. Should he refer to this discussion?

Thank you so far.

Yes, when you or your customer contacts us, have them reference this post.

Ok, thats fine.

And thank you again fort quick replays!

Hi

For your information.

My customer now have used firmware version 2.1.16 (instead of the newest version 2.1.19).

No coldstarts since end of november.

So it seems that firmware 2.1.19 is faulty...
