SFE2000 reboots continuousley with broken image

I am just looking for a clue to switch back the active image to the good one, but I don't have a chance cause it is an intermediate image from a software upgrade and there is no possibility in the CLI because of the continuous reboots.

Thanks for help.

Hi Andreas,

Even though I am using my SGE2000 as an example i don't think it is different to the SFE2000.

I started hyperterminal  at 115200baud  as per the setup guide.

from hyperterminal I tried the following, rebooted my SGE2000 and return when it asked me to.

I then had a option to download software via Xmodem.

;

Boot1 Checksum Test...............................PASS

Boot2 Checksum Test...............................PASS

Flash Image Validation Test.......................PASS

BOOT Software Version 2.0.0.03 Built  18-May-2009  11:44:56

Networking device with CPU based on AXXXXXEJ-S core.

Autoboot in 2 seconds - press RETURN or Esc. to abort and enter prom.

[2J

     Startup Menu

[1]  Download Software

[2]  Erase Flash File

[3]  Password Recovery Procedure

[4]  Enter Diagnostic Mode

[5]  Set Terminal Baud-Rate

[6]  Stack menu

[7]  Back

Enter your choice or press 'ESC' to exit:

Downloading code using XMODEM.

If that fails to fix the unit then just call the small business support center via the following URL;

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot Dave it worked,

While I had my Laptop attached via serial to the device I had seen tis 2 second message

during the reboot cycles and Ionce entered this menu. But I didn't dare to do it. So in ther

meantime I rang the American support hotline and the guy gave me the advice to push the rest

button and power cycle the switch. And when I don't get a stable GUI I should forget the

device and get a new one. This didn't work, so with Your experience I thought this could be

the only chance. I had to press the reset button again and disconnect it from the rest of

the stack (4 devices) cause in the first place the upload via xmodem aborted. It worked on

the other devices as well even though very slowly despite 115200 speed. After connecting the

devices the stack built up again and I could update the firmware and bootloader on all

devices and all images; and it is still working. Just the old config file doesn't seem to

load without errors so there is still a little bit of handwork to do.

Thank You very much again and have a nice weekend.
