SG 200-08, Jumbo Frames not forwarded?

What am I missing - can't get my new SG 200-08 Switch to handle Jumbo Frames

I have set the MTU size to 9216, saved the conf. and rebooted the box - however when I try to "ping -f -l 8000 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" through it (or to the switch itself) I recieve only "Request timed out"!?

I have tried MTU=9000 as well.....

F/W: 1.0.1.0

Is there anything, apart from increasing the MTU size, that needs to be done??

Best Regards;

Johan

UPDATE:

I have opened a case with Cisco, they have verified the problem!

Did you find a soulution to this? I've got the same problem.

Best regards,

Dag Morten

Five weeks, and numerous e-mails, after I reported the issue I finally got a reply from Cisco:

"This is a valid behavior on the switch and as designed.  Ping (ICMP) works only up to 1518 bytes and all the other kinds of data traffic should work up to the Jumbo frame limits."

So, obviously, the issue is not so much an issue as an inconvenience in design?

I have now tested it using Micosoft Network Monitor 3.3 and Jumbo Frames are, to the best of my knowledge, forwarded?

I still get a lot of "oversized" packages in the Switch's log - this, however, only seems to mean they exceed 1518 in size, not that they are too big and not forwarded - I find also this annoying!

Bottom line - it should be enough to set the max MTU to 9216?!

Ok, thanks for the reply.

I'll do some tests later this week then.

Best regards,

Dag Morten

On the sf300 you have to uncheck the "Enable jumbo" box to make jumbo work. It's either backwards logic or a bug.
