SG 550x VLAN Issue

Hi Guys 

 

this is driving me crazy as its makes no sense to me. 

2 x cisco 550x switches set to stand alone mode. Connected via ethernet both on ports 25. 

 

S1 L3sg 550, 
S2 L2

 

native vlan set to vlan 100.

 

second create -  vlan 20

 

static route added for vlan 20 192.168.20.1. S1 cant ping svi with a response

 

S2 cannot ping 192.168.20.1 by default. If i add vlan 20 untagged on SW1 port 25 S2 can ping 192.168.20.1???

 

S2 has not had vlan 20 tagged on port 25! Devices plugged into S2 on vlan 20 cannot ping 192.168.20.1 but the switch can. 

 

devices still cannot ping 192.168.20.1 if i tag vlan 20 on port 25. 

 

it appears vlan 20 traffic on S2 is carried over on the native vlan by default and i have no idea why.

 - Disable all instances of auto-smartport and check if that can help , e.g. :

      switchxxxxxx(config)# interface range gi1/1/1-20   -> change according to your needs

      switchxxxxxx(config)# no macro auto smartport
