SG200-50 Receive Value is 10x more than the Transmit's

SG200-50 fw: 1.4.9.4

I am currently monitoring the interface utilization of a certain server down to client PC.

The network connection looks like this.

Server ----- Server Sw ---- Core Sw ---- Distri Switch ---- Access Sw -- Client PC

Issue:

The Tx/Rx Utilization between each devices are almost the same except for the Server and Server Switch.

1. Server's Tx is around 5% while the  Server Sw's Rx is 10x more than the other end's Tx.

2. Server's Rx is almost the same as Server Sw's Tx

3. This only occurs from 9pm until 12 mn.

4. Only Server Sw's port-36 connected to Server has Pause Frames Received (26) and Pause Frames Transmitted (5693663)

What I did so far:

1. Clear the counter of all interfaces

2. Set switch port-36 flow control to auto-negotiate

3. Set server NIC-1 flow control enable

But none of those worked.

I have been searching the internet for two weeks now and couldn't find the solution.

Please help me. Thank you.

Here's the graph for your reference.

Hello Ryan,

Check the server sw port duplex mode, speed:

Port Management > Port Settings

also check what is the state on server port;

- check the length of the UTP cable - should not exceed 100m

- try to swap the port with other free port and check if the behavior will be the same

- you can place also a small unmanaged gigabit switch (for example 5 port) between server and switch just to see if it will alleviate the symptom

Of course you can try also to upgrade the firmware (latest is 1.4.11.0):

https://software.cisco.com/download/home/283771828/type/282463182/release/1.4.11.04

Hope it helps

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for stopping by.

I already checked and perform the following:

Port settings: duplex

UTP cable : <50m

Swap port: yes

What I will do next is to try to upgrade its firmware to the latest version.

I was not considering this at first because among the SG200-50 switches that we have, only this one has this odd issue.

Hope this will work. Thanks again.
