Hello,
can someone please help me to find out why the rspan session doesn't work.
=======================
- source switch sw12
- destination switch sw13
- remote-span vlan 200 on both switches
- sw12/ge10/Trunk 1U,200T connected to sw13/ge2/Trunk 1U,200T
- monitor port sw12/ge1
- reflector-port sw12/ge5 (nothing connected)
- wireshark connect to sw13/ge1
- firmware 2.3.5.63
=======================
Konfiguration switch sw12:
=======================
sw12(config)#monitor session 1 destination remote vlan 200 reflector-port GigabitEthernet5 network
sw12(config)#monitor session 1 source interface GigabitEthernet1 both
sw12#show monitor session 1
Session 1:
Type: RSPAN Start
Destination: RSPAN VLAN 200, reflector-port gi5, network port
Source: port gi1, both
=======================
Konfiguration switch sw13:
=======================
sw13(config)#monitor session 1 destination interface GigabitEthernet1
sw13(config)#monitor session 1 source remote vlan 200
sw13#show monitor session 1
Session 1:
Type: RSPAN Final
Destination: gi1,
Source: RSPAN VLAN 200
=======================
no data on switch sw13/ge1
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks
Claus

Hi Claus,
Not sure if it still valid but I thought I will ask you why reflector-port sw12/ge5 has nothing connected?

Hi Aleksandra,
it was still valid, but your hint with the yellow marked reflector port solved my problem.
Many Thanks

Hi,
So I am a little lost trying to set up my RSPAN on my SG305x-24P's. I have it set up as i believe should work, but it obviously is not. I too have made my reflector ports empty. Based on your image here, is my reflector port supposed to be my trunk port? If so will this take down other traffic on the trunk and interfere with my network? I was under the impression that the reflector port was just a loopback port, and therefore could be empty.
I did find one article that specifically stated that a reflector port can not trunk:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2950/software/release/12-1_11_yj4/configuration/guide/lrescg/swspan.html
"It cannot be an EtherChannel group, it does not trunk, and it cannot do protocol filtering."
I plan to leave this RSPAN session up 24/7 so I can not have it interfere or take down my trunks.
