I have downloaded the new firmware for the SG500. I see there are two files included in the download, a boot file (rfb) and regular firmware image (ros). I have looked and haven't seen anything about the rfb files. I know it is a boot file, but do not know if I should update the boot file first and then the firmware image or vice versa. Also, in my update screen on the SG500, the boot file option is greyed out. Maybe if I update the firmware first, then the boot file will be ungreyed?

Hi J, the boot image should not be of consideration. Pre production releases usually needed special boot code upload procedures but post production release switches (the switch you bought) the boot codes should load with the firmware images.
You should be able to load 1.3.0.59 software without problems.
If for some reason the boot code on the switch is messed up, the switch would likely get RMA as field boot-restoration historically has been unsupported.
I can tell you from my pre-production experiences, the boot codes is not something you want to have to deal with.

Hi,
I've just been through this myself. I guess you are trying to upgrade the boot code via http method? If you use the SCP or TFTP method, the option should be available.
My interpretation of the release notes is different to the response above. The 1.3.0.x firmware requires a new boot image for the hybrid stacking feature, while the latest 1.3.5 firmware requires a new boot image for the new flash filesystem format, and you won't be able to upgrade beyond 1.3.5 if you don't upgrade the boot image. See the latest release notes:
