SG550XG-48T 48-Port 10GBase-T Stackable Switch - Reboot only member

Hi Community

We have 2 units of "SG550XG-48T 48-Port 10GBase-T Stackable Managed Switch" in native stacking mode.

We have to reboot the whole stack, but we want only reboot unit 1 and then after i few minutes unit 2.

This because we have LACP enabled ports on the stack and if we choose reboot over the webinterface, then the whole stack will reboot and the services are down for minutes.

How we can do that?

Thanks

Smilery

this is not recommended in cisco. recommended steps are upgrading stack through master switch.

but,
i can suggest below process to minimize downtime as per this guide.
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/smb/switches/cisco-350-series-managed-switches/smb5555-configure-stack-settings-on-a-switch-through-the-command-lin.html

1. take switch backup.
2. remove slave switch from stack and remove all connections.
3. upgrade OS.
4. configure same as stack master switch, configure stack ports
5. move cables to new switch while removing master switch connections. (will take downtime for seconds due to STP)
now updated switch will work as single master unit
6. remove old master switch completely from network and upgrade OS.
7. configure as stack slave and connect to master

hope things will go well.

Hi Kasun

Thanks a lot!

And only reboot one member in the stack is possible?

Thanks

Smilery

according to the guide, if you used CLI it will reboot the slave. but as a safe method you can save the config and remove the power cable and re power. i am not 100% sure about this method. i am just suggesting :)
