why user password encrypt password in cisco business switch

I have Cisco Business 350 Series. As i tried to configure

 user ADMIN secret hallothere

, it didn't show any secret command but only password. I interpret this as if it has no secret command anymore. After I set

user Admin password hallothere privilege 15

, i saw that the password wasn't in clear-text but it was encrypted, as if it were done by "secret".

why it is like this?

I thought "enable password" or user xxx password" can't encrypt the password, but only "enable secret" or "user xxx secret" can. Am I wrong?

Your expectations would be true if these devices run a "real" IOS. But they have their own operating system and they just aligned the commands a little bit to IOS. But not in full. And on these devices, the developers decided to implement "password" with hashed passwords.

Perhaps the developer had a bad day and decided to confuse the customers ...

password encryption command is enter which encrypt all password show in running-config
