Changing ringer volume with Alert-Info

We have SPA508G phones, and would like to change the ringer volume by adding a SIP header with Alert-Info. Is this possible?

We tried:

Alert-Info: volume=8

It didnt work.

Alert-Info is standard RFC3261 header. It handles just ring tone, not the volume. Per-call volume change is not possible as far as I know.

Thanks Dan, I thought that was the case, but then I noticed FreePBX (Asterisk) has a Ringer Volume Override option, which adds the SIP header with Alert-info and volume. It might be for certain phones (probably Digium) though. Too bad Cisco phones dont have that capability since we are getting a lot of requests for that from the field.

FreePBX uses Sangoma phones. Remote volume control, the Sangoma's proprietary extension of SIP protocol doesn't work on other phones.
