We just bought a building that has a Cisco Air0Net 1252. Question.... Can we just run that by itself as a Wi-Fi, anonymous wap When I turn it on it is looking for a control system. I have reset the Air0Net. How do I make it anonymous wap?

Hi, Yes, You must find Autonomous firmware and download it to Your AP. It can be done use reset button as this:

Looking at the site and trying to download " ap3g1-k9w7-tar.153-3.JD17.tar"
it says we need a

"To Download this software, you must have a valid service contract
associated to your Cisco.com profile.
If you do not have a service contract you can get one through:

- Your Cisco Account Team if you have a direct purchase agreement with
Cisco
- Your Cisco Partner or Reseller

Once you have the service contract you must associate your service contract
to your Cisco.com user ID with Profile Manager

Do we need to buy a "service contract" to get the the software for the
Aironet that we own that came with the building we bought?

yes your product requiired to have smartnet contract and CCO login rights to download the Image from cisco software.

if not contact local SE or cisco partnet to asists you better.

Since the LAP is old and not covered we need a VM of the WAP for it to work. Please allow use to get a VM WAP for our LAP to be usable.
