WAP121 Buggy firmware : crash with firmware greater than 1.0.0.3

Hello,

I have more than 10 WAP121 devices and everything was fine before I upgrade a few of them to firmware greater than 1.0.0.3.

After 2-3 days the upgraded devices just crash and doesn't respond to ping. I have to reboot them each time. I'm using POE catalyst to power them.

It would be nice to sort this out or to give us the possibility to download the factory firmware 1.0.0.3 not available on the download section.

Best regards,

Mathieu

Hi have the same problem as already discussed.

I made an update to Firmware 1.0.4.2 and

after 2-3 days the upgraded devices just crash and doesn't respond to ping

Fortunately i did not make the Upgrade on all Devices, Devices with the Firmware 1.0.0.3 still working fine.

Is it possible to get the firmware 1.0.0.3 as already mentioned here? Thank you.

Ok, check your email. I´ve submited the file for you!

Report back to tell us if it helped!

Hi! This post is quite old but might help someone!

I´ve been throught same issues, so i needed to revert to factory firmware (WAP121_1.0.0.3). As you said, you can´t download it from support section. I took a factory WAP121 and by entering a rootshell via ssh y downloaded kernel, generated md5sums and created the tar upgrade img and worked!

So if, anyone needs this file, please leave your email and i´ll send it to you!

The latest version is 1.0.3.4, please try it.

If crashing issue still happens, please contact SBSC, thanks.

Depends on hardware i think.. i dont really know why. i have cases that, using FW 1.0.3.4 AP has been up since 17days without issues, but in this case using 1.0.3.4 too wont last more than 5 hours using it.

I´ve crash logs from an ap using 1.0.2.3:

/mnt/etc/crashdump # cat *

That return address doesn't look like userspace code-space. Giving up.

/mnt/etc/crashdump #

as you can see, AP max uptime was 5 hours.

and as a personal opinion i don agree with removing SSH access, and grater versions of FW than 1.0.0.3 wont allow that anymore due to "security concerns".

Someone can send me the file with stock firmware to ciscotemp@outlook.com

I will share it after that on this forum.

Thank you

It's quite urgent because new wap121 doesn't come with 1.0.0.3 anymore but with the shi**y new firmware

Hi Vincent,

You can choose which firmware you want to download by yourself by just going here:

http://software.cisco.com/download/type.html?mdfid=284152657&flowid=32562

On the left column is where you can choose which version of firmware you prefer.

Hi Cindy, unfortunatelly Factory FW ain´t available at Cisco.com download section,

Edgardo,

I was able to find all the firmware versions on the cisco.com download section.  All you have to do is choose which firmware version you want from the left column.

Here's a link dropbox and a forum file to the wap121 stock firmware 1.0.0.3

Big thanks to Edgardo Rodriguez for extracting it.

Hi mathieu, i´ve been on holidays that´s why i haven´t answered earlier. I don´t remember exactly how did i extracted this firmware, by for sure was using SSH, you type sh and you get a shell from which you can browse the file system. There´s a script for upgrading the firmware and i think i has something to do with it..

But, you already shared it Would be great if Cisco itself publish this stock FW (initial release).

Regards,

As was mentioned above the firmware 1.0.0.3 is available on the Cisco Website.

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284152657&softwareid=283415686&release=1.0.0.3&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest&i=rs
