Hey all,

Well I can not get 2 of 15 laptops to work with our new WAP4410N access point.

the 2 laptops both have an Intel 6250 WIFI card....

I changed there security to AES and WPA- Personal.. THat helped get a better connection speed.

But it will not stay connected.  It just keep Identifing...

It is very frustrating...

I removed the Intel Software once and the drivers, no help.

What should I do not next...

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center. Thank you for using the Cisco Community Post Forums.

Purely as a test, have you tried the Intel with no security?

I know that in the past we have had issues with other Intel Wireless cards.

Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG
Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG

Please call into the Small business Support Center and work with one of our Support Engineers. If they can not come to a solution, have them contact me. I work in the same area, as they do.

Thanks

have not.

I did try with:

TKIP and AES

WPA-personal

WPA2-personal

The AES gets me the full 130Mbps, TKIP get me 54Mbps

But nothing will stay connected...

I am not able to take down the access point durring the day.

I will ask the IT team to see if they can set up a second SSID and do as you talked about.

Ok the Firmware fixed 90% of the issues...

I am still having issues, but I am no longer being disconnected.

But loading web pages is not always working.

It is like, the system is trying to Cashe 100% of the page before showing it.

And it part of it fails, the page will not load..

This is very interesting..

I am no longer sure what the problem, might be.

I think the Intell 6200 and 6250 WIFI cards are the issues.

I loaded the newest drivers, but that did not help....

spoke to soon.

RIght after posting, I started to dropp again...

Maybe it is better to get a USB NIC card and not use the intel card...

I am guessing there is a driver issue with the Intell cards and this AP.

Not 100% sure where to turn...

Is it the Intel or Ciscos issue.

My laptop is a Ausus G73 JH with the Intlel 6250 WiMax card.

I am using the version 14 drivers.....

Oh well.... if anyone has any idea let me know please..

Hello Mr. Carey,

Are you having any issues with any other laptops with different WLAN cards. If not, have you check with Intel or the Maker your WLAN Card?

I did a little research on your Card and with it being a WiMax card vs a true WiFi card there could be some issues.

The one that I was looking at

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/centrino-wireless-n-wimax-6250.html

Is a dual band card with WiMax and WiFi, is that the same as yours. Can you try testing it with turning off the WiMax portion if possible and just go straight WiFi.

Let me know.

That is the card 100%...

I have turned off the Wimax. As I do not pay for the service.

Right now the Driver for the Wimax is not loaded.

I uninstalled the card and when reinstalling the Wimax was no put back in..

When I go home and use my E1000 Router, I have no issues as all, if tha helps...

I am willing to try anything at this point...

New test.

I turned off the N signal in the 2 laptops that will not work with the WAP4410N for very long.

For now, they are using B and or G only signals.

It might just work out,

I am not a support fan of this idea, but it is working for now.

This sadly did not work...

If you have any other ideas let me know please....

THe WAP4410N was on Channel 6.

I moved it to Channel 11...

And no issues yet...  Umm could that be part or all of the issue?

I saw 4 other WIFI netowrks used Channel 6, so maybe it was interferance..

Re: WAP4410N will not stay connected to Intel 6250 wifi card

Todd,

The wireless channel can certainly make a difference. If there are multiple devices using the same channel they can interfere with each other. I usually start with "Auto" and see what channel the devices choose consistently, then set it to fixed. inSSIDer is a good tool to check for open channels: http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

Re: WAP4410N will not stay connected to Intel 6250 wifi card

I was able to use my Cell phone to look at theother wirless signals.

I even walked around the office and paused for 20 seconds to watch each signal.

I am very happy to report that finding a channel that was not being used by others has helped big time.

I turned the N signal back on and everything is fine.

I am very thankful for this forum to talk about my issue.

Thank you all for your help.

If anything changes I will post back up...
