I have been reading about Smart Accounts and Smart Licenses from varying articles. One thing that I still cannot find out is whether these are required. If a customer, for example, buys 1x 9300 switch, does he need to create a Smart Account? Or can the switch just be installed like the traditional approach?

 

Any help is appreciated.
