How do I recover from upgrade to patch (CSPC) 2.10.0.2 from 2.10.0.1?

This is in VM console of this machine

Welcome to rescue mode! After logging in, type "journal -xb" to view

system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" or ^D to boot into default mode.

Give root password for manitenance

(or press Control-D to continue):

Pressing CTRL-D returns the following:

Authorization not available.  Check if polkit service is running or see debug message for more information.

Then returns to Welcome message...

This is what I have after running the software update from the GUI.

Device is offline and we did not set the root password earlier.

Can anyone help?

This was resolved by building a new VM from a fresh buyild of the collector, version 2.10.0.1-B-7.ova file and then installing the JeOS and SP patches through the CLI/Manual process.

I am please to say the system is running properly now.

Hi Larry,

Summary of the WebEx session :
• Root and collectorlogin passwords were never set
• ESXI version was 6.7
• Reset the VM again
• Pressed ALT+F4 while restarting
• VM entering the rescue mode again

As discussed over WebEx call, you can redeploy the CSPC again to version 2.10.0.1.

Thanks & Regards

It was also important to set the collectorlogin and root passwords after the fresh build was up and running Configure-CSPC-Appliance-via-CLI (cisco.com)
