Similar issue here, have only been able to upgrade 1 CSPC to 2.8.1.8. think its a Cisco issue.

I also attempted trough the upgrade command.

admin# upgrade

Version Description

sp-30.1.1-8-0-lnx64 Collector patch to upgrade to CSPC 2.8.1.8.

Download and apply of a package can take a while.
It is recommended to schedule the upgrade.

Please help, i need to get this working for my client, and its never an easy upgrade on these things..

If you have access to the 'collectorlogin' and 'root' CLI accounts, please confirm the contents of the following directory to determine if the file is already present (if so, attempt to remove it):

/opt/LCM/tmp/downloads/

Then, attempt to download the patch again via the LCM upgrade mechanism from the 'admin' CLI account.

Depending on your current CSPC Version, you may be able to download, transfer, and apply the 2.8.1.7 patch manually first:

https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286312935/type/286312958/release/2.8.1.7

Transfer this to the CSPC via FTP/SCP using the 'collectorlogin' credentials and home directory. Then, place it in the above TMP download directory path. Attempt to apply it and ensure that it completes.

You may also try the 'upgrade' command from the admin CLI user. This should consolidate the software selection, download, and apply processes.

Thanks Justin,

But it managed to download okay in the end. I tried a few times later on in the evening and it downloaded without error eventually.

Maybe it kept timing out due to slow/bad connection ?? Not sure.
