I am failing to login to a collector appliance and am following a procedure given by TAC support but in the early steps of the procedure it requires to unlock the GRUB password. in the document it says use the default GRUB password. Can anyone assist with this.
Grub passwords are not sharable and latest version do not have encrypted. When you say TAC gave you a procedure you mean you have SMART ASSIST to open tac cases for SNTC and CSPC collector?
the smartnet care contract expired and in the past after an upgrade we could not access the collector with the password so case was opened and the the root password was recovered using a procedure and that the one that needs the default grub password. The engineer who was working on this before resigned and does not remember the passwords he was using and ironically the client wants to renew the service but would like to extract the current install base.,.
Please advise on whether we can upgrade without login on to the appliance and when you say not sharable is that as per Cisco policy or per appliance. Also is ther any other inventorying software that we can use to detect the Cisco real estate
